Central Park, Connaught Place

I was in CP the other day looking for a birthday gift for a friend. Walked through Central Park for the first time. Its made right above the Metro Station and it quite a nice place to walk around with not too many people around, atleast in the late afternoon. There was even an open air concert by Kailash Kher some days ago. Delhi is certainly coming up with some nice and cheap hang out places. Took some pics while walking across the Park. Here they are:
People relaxing in the Park:
I don't know what this is but there's water surrounding the building below:
Sights seen from the Park. Thats the Jeevan Bharti Building:
And this is one of my favourite places in CP, the Stateman Building which also houses the Oxford Book Shop where I go read books, have a good meal and meet up with friends:
People frolicking in the Park:
Pigeons, pigeons everywhere!!! Nice isnt it?
Finally the very familiar and reassuring letter box. Doesnt seeing one give you a nice, cosy feeling? Of letters, memories, smiles, tears and nostalgia?
By the way, the second Dilli Haat was inaugurated in Pitampura today. Anyone interested in giving it a try?

The pursuit of happyness and more

Anyone watched this movie? Watched it sometime last week and for once I liked Will Smith in some movie. I loved him in "The Fresh Prince of Bel Air". Anyway this is a movie based on a true story of a man living in utter penury, overcoming it and coming out stronger and richer, ofcourse. The last scene when Will Smith walks amongst the crowd with full of emotions was so touching. I was on the verge of tears! But my favourite scene was one where both father and son check into a hotlel and fall alseep watching TV. Christopher Juniour sleeping on his father's lap wiht his mouth wide open was so cute! :-) I loved one of its dialogues:
Will Smith: Dont ever let someone tell you, you can't do something. Not even me. All right?
Son: All right.
Solid advice, I'd say.
Anyway my lathest crush is the SON! Yup, thats right. Im gonna wait for him to grow into a dashing young man and then we'll take it from there ;-) hehehe

Oh yes, another thing, I bought a digicam for myself last Sunday. I was getting the tired of having to borrow my parents' as well as Sonu's. Im sure the feelings mutual. Anyway, I bought a Canon 4 megapixel cam for 8 something. I got confused whether to buy a 4 MP or a 6 MP cam so I ended up calling Him. Yes, I did call him. Why? Coz amongst all my friends I think hes the one with the widest knowledge on everything. I cant do anything without having his opinion. More like receiving his blessings or some green signal of sorts. Uff. Thats wat I did for my laptop as well. I will get over doing this just the way Im getting over him. Anyway the camera's cool and Im happy taking pictures most of the time.

Went to JNU yest to submit my application forms. Took some pics. Should upload them soon. I dont know, I didnt like JNU! Why? Its like being in the middle of nowhere, well, in the middle of a JUNGLE. Found it scarey! Wonder how it would be if I had to walk around the campus at night? :-o Is it just me or the place is just not becomign me. I did the same yrs ago when I got into St Stephens. Daddy called me all the way from Guwahati, all excited and asked me how i found College. I went, 'Its ok, more like a desert. The trees are too dry.' Lol, insipid, thats me. So I think its me. Im sure once I start living in JNU I'll come to love the place. Thats if I make it. Uff! Im worried.

Oh I can see eveyone getting their visual DNA uploaded in their blogs. I first came across one in Reshma's blog, then Lalit n Ekta. Think I will upload one as well. Ricky and Sanguine, how about you two? Anyway I'm off to bed. Good night people.

Fallen yet beautiful

I have no idea wat this flower's called but love its fiery colour nonetheless. An attention 'receiving' flower I'd say! Its quite ubiquitous around Delhi. This one's taken from the Society where I live.

Experimentation?

All im trying to do with this picture is to show off my ballerina shoes...I lurve them :-D What say you?

Spring's here

Its a lovely time to be in Delhi when the sun is just right to go out for a walk or just to sit in the garden. That was what I was doing the other day while waiting for my mother's meeting to get over. And I'd love to believe that the air is as clean as the blue sky in the background!

Blogger sure knows how to test one's patience. Lost an entire post before I could upload it. Here I go again. Yeah, I have all the time in the world to do this! I could go on all night. I do live in exciting times.

Shillong-All Saint's Church

Church in the evening light:Front portion of the church:
Church steeple:What bird is that on the top?
Commemorative Stone: View of the Church from across the road:
This is where I came for Sunday Service as a child when I lived in a hostel. The best part of Sunday Service was the Sunday School classes where the teacher would tell us stories from the Bible. Best of all was the tea that followed after that!

Shillong-All Saint's School

This is the lane from the gate that leads to the school building. Its nice to walk underneath the trees on a stone pathway.

This is one of the views of the school building. Studied here a long time ago. Some time in 1993/94. Was good to visit it after a long time.

Missing...

Its morning time but rather late coz I havent slept all night. Being sick is not the best things to be happening to a singleton living alone. Havent been able to sleep. Been thinking, worrying , remembering and missing loads of things and people.

The one person I miss the most is Lizzie, my pet dog. We lost her on the 29th of Jan. Lizzie, I hope that you're safe and happy in heaven. I hope you made some friends and dont let anyone bully you ok? Thinking of you brings tears, smiles and more tears. I cant help but talk about the antics you did until your last days with Ma. You became the central figure in the family. You were the child for Ma n Pa while I was away. You made our days filled with laughter and funny moments. And now that you're not there its like this void in our lives that can never be replaced. Its just so unbelievable that your not there. Im going to miss you so much when I go home. Even more when I'll have to walk into the house without you rushing to welcome me and then me carrying you in my arms. I can't imagine sleeping without you in my room. Who's going lick my face and wake me up every morning? I'll miss taking you for walks. I hate it that you had to endure so much of pain because of your illness but even in your last moments you were trying so hard to be strong and cheerful. How do I tell you that it hurts so much not to have you anymore? The tears wont stop now. You'll always be my first baby, my kid sister :) who couldnt talk but was great anyway! Here's a Thank You to you for all the fond memories and love that your presence filled our lives with. Love you. Be happy, always.

Shillong-State Central Library

This is the Tank housed withen the State Central Library grounds. It commemorates the 1972 Indo-Pak (East Pakistan, Bangladesh) War and Pakistan's surrender. I dont know why but I always found the Tanker to be incongruous for a hill station like Shillong, known for its serenity. It like this unexpected thing totally out of place! Wonder how long will this relic will withstand to the ravages of time. Apart from the Tank, the Library and the State Museum, it also has an auditorium where all important regional and State-level functions are held. I remember going to the auditorium as a 10 year old child to watch a musical adaption of Oliver Twist by the St. Edmund's School boys. It was a brillaint performance! Wonder if anyone of you has heard this song, 'I'll do anything for your love' from the musical? If yes, please let me know!

Shillong-Shillong Bench

This is the Shillong Bench of the Guwahati High Court, situated in the premises of the Assembly Secretariat. I love the architecture of the place as well as the coulour of the building-pink! Another view of the Court:
Signboard outside the Assembly:

Shillong-Presbyterian Church

The Church in the evening light:
The Tablet commemorrating 100 years of Service:
Serenity inside the Church. While I was taking pictures of the Church outside, I could hear some singing. Walking inside I saw a group of 6 people singing. I assumed tehy were the Church's choir members. Perfect timing to my entry! :-)

Shillong-On the way back home.

This pictue was taken on the way back home. These shacks are a common sight on the GS Raod (Guwahati-Shillong Road). Its all about getting a good bargain. Most of these products are artociously expensive but then they're worth every paise spent. These vegetables and fruits are grown by the shop keepers at their backyards. The red bottles are filled with Dhan Jolokia (Rice Grain Chillies) and Bamboo Shoot pickles. The yellow bottles is filled with Star Fruit juice. I managed to get a good bargain with the Pineapples, Chillie pickle, Koldeel (Banana Flowers) and Bananas :-)

Lizzie

Here are some pictures of Lizzie, my family's much loved pet dog. She is 6 years old and a pure mongrel. She loves meat, chocolates and hugs. She can even be bribed with chocolates. She loves the word 'Walk'. Can get moody but generally very friendly and active especially when guests come over. Lizzie loves to sleep in all places except her own bed. She's usually caught sleeping on the living room sofas and beds, much to the Help's vexation!

One of her favourtite past times:
