Chicken Lunch

Had some friends come over for lunch yesterday...I find it therapeutic to cook for others as well as myself...I find it a good way to unwind. And I also cant loose my cool while cooking coz I'd have to eat the end result (whether good or bad!). Here's some of the pictures of the lunch.
The spread consisted of:

Oh have a look at the VCD Loky's holding, its a Tamil movie, KAKA KAKA...Had Loky translating the entire movie...even the emotional scences. It was hilarious but he did a good job. The movie? Not bad at all. Story of an IPS officer and the trials they have to face. I think I have a crush on the main actor!!!

Rounded off the evening with a nice cup of ginger tea and cookies (in the box): All in all a fun filled afternoon! Had the final rehearsals for the concert after that. Excited! I do hope the concert goess off well. Pray for us!

SAD-Seasonal Affective Disorder

Theres no sunshine in Delhi! Will have to make do with cozy lampshades and a heater to get through yet another dreary winter. I think I Suffer from SAD (Seasonal Affective Disorder) or Winter depression :-(

Hats Off to DELHI POLICE

I know that me commending the Delhi police might raise some eyebrows but then what happened last night has made me see these khaki clad men with new insight now. Here's what happened: I was on my way to work and right in front of my cab was this bike with two guys. There was a Maruti 800 that came from behind and hit the bike so hard that both the occupants fell off the bike with the bike taking a 180 degree turn bang on the middle of the road. The pillion riders helmet came off due to the impact of the jolt of the Maruti. Thankfully there werent too many cars speeding by otherwise the accident could have been more worse, even gory. The maruti driver tried to get away despite the bike driver trying to stop him. What would have become a hit and run accident was saved due to the vigilance of the PCR Van nearby. The PSR Van chased the Maruti driver for about 4 minutes and caught up with him. Now that was something not really expected what with the Police being one of the most corrupt departments in the government. But then again, with this episode I still have some faith for the Law and Order of the country. Hats off to you once again, Delhi Police! :-)

I just got back from a shoe shopping expedition. Yes, expedition because its such a pain to shop with a limited budget :-I But I managed to get a good pair from GK I, M Block Market. Its nice and strappy. Even though im not into the tie-up sandals type, I had to take it because it did look good on me! Alright I am coming to the price: was priced at Rs 1050 but managed to sweet talk the shop keeper to give it to me for Rs 900 (!!!) I should become a pro at flirting with Shopkeepers pretty soon ;-) lol!

Ok, why this outburst you might ask? No idea. I mean I do know what triggered it. Im plain tired of the men in my life: at work, neighbours, dance, swimming. I need to get away from all this. Soon.

I had to type this out for the second time! Thought that the post got saved into drafts automatically. Had to learn it the tough way. Its called learning through trial and error!
But on the brighter note, the countdown for my trip home begins: 3 weeks.

New found fascination: Chandeliers

Yes, Chandeliers are my new fascinations. Why, you might ask? Here's why: the church where I go for my choir practices has them! I find them so archiac yet regal. They take me back to the ages of yore, of knights, battles of passion, sweeping gowns and fancy masquerade balls :-)

The choir practices are held at Free Church, Parliament Street. So while i am singing, im also gaping and admiring the gandeur of the church's architecture. Its a beautiful feeling to enjoy two things together: singing, which is my passion and revere in the grand architecture :-) Will give a fuller description about this church in another post.

Innovative Advertising

Saw this in the Delhi Metro while on my way to watch the Russian Circus. Will put up the Circus pictures in a later post. With people offering their foreheads to posterior, this is a fairly normal method of advertising!
Talking about the various radio stations in Delhi, I'm still a faithfull listener of Rainbow fm (102.6). I particularly like their English programmes. I like them even more after they played 'You're Beautiful' by James Blunt when I was on this lovely drive with this chap I have fancied forever. And all I did while the song was playing: drool. :-) I also listen to 95 Fm because of their good dance/hiphop tracks.

Im bored at work with nothing to do and all my chat friends are asleep at 6.30 in the morning, so here i am playing a word game at www.answers.com where you need to guess the meaning of a given word. Good fun if you've got nothing to do as well as improving on my vocabulary!

IITF (Pragati Maidan)

Went to Pragati Maidan this evening for the IITF with Sonu and Smita. The metro was crowded, the footpath as well, and Pragati Maidan was choked. I hate crowded places, especially with arbit men around but then the trip was worth it! We had some spicey Biryani from Hyderabad for 90 rupees with huge chunks of chicken and then some Fried Fish for 35 rupees in the West Bengal food court. We dropped by at the Assam pavilion to chat with strangers in Assamese and Bodo. Good fun! picked up some Sandoh Guri from the Assam. Oh I also bought a cute purple woollen hat for 100 rupees from Nagaland. Geared for the winters? Also bought some deliciously tangy, dried wild apple from there.

Dropped by in the Meghalaya Pavilion and met one of the ladies I had worked with when I was also working for the Meghalaya Govt during the IITF in 2004. She says I looked good since I'd lost so much of weight :-D

For people who are interested in going to the Trade fair can use the Metro as well as buy the tickets for the IITF in the station itself. Tickets during the weekdays is reasonably priced at Rs. 20.00. Doesnt really burn a hole in the pocket. Worth a trip if one can overlook the massive crowd. If this will help, bargaining is the key word for a good deal.

All in all, a fun evening!

Ok tell me people is there a nerve connection between the finger and the paunch?! :-o I desperately need to loose some weight...any suggestions (apart from exercising and eating less)? I dance jazz and salsa 5 days a week but it hasnt helped!

Numbers And Fantasy World

I started revising my multiplication tables from this evening because im sad with calculations and dont have any option but to brush it up for some unattainable entrance exams. Thats when i remembered the fantasy world that I had created with these numbers as a child.

All the numbers from 1 to 10 represented different individuals belonging to the same community. 1 to 4 consisted of a socially superior family with 1 as the father, 2 as the mother, 3 the haughty daughter and 4 the nasty brother. I also had another set of family in 5 to 8, where 5 was the pretty and devoted sister and 6 the protective brother. 7 and 8 were parents to 5 and 6. 9 and 10 were friends of 5 and 6. I'd cook up stories between these families where 3 and 4 would harass 5 and 6 because they socially better off, 5 would constantly be vexed and ended up crying everytime any altercation happened between the waring families. Incidently the parents had no role in these conflicts. 1 and 2 were anyway too superior to talk to 7 and 8 and their likes.

So when im trying to remember 6 time 8 i remind myself that this time it's 5's victory over 4...therefore, it is the answer is 45...There are so many more such stories involving these numbers, cant even remeber all of them. Anyway its back to revising the tables!

A Situation...

I guess everybody goes through a situation when we know what we ought to do but do the exact opposite. Im supposed to be filling up application forms to various institutes for my masters n here i am watching movies in all my free time!
So since last week i've watched-Million Dollar Baby (had watched it yrs ago with my psycho ex), Bas ek pal (brilliant movie, cried like a baby in the end), Gangster (Shiney is so drool worthy), Shall we dance, Dance with me (made me want to sign up for the next Ball room dance classes. If only i'd meet a richard gereish type of man), Runaway bride (watched it again to stare at Julia Roberts' so-horsey face. Ok all you Roberts' fans i dont quite like her.)
And now i still have another DVD to watch-Pyaar ke side effects. Lets see what the 'great' Jat lass does in this movie.
No i dont spend any money on buying or renting DVDs, its my friendly neighbour who is my source for them :-)
Oh before i get back to watching my movie, for starters, i have bought the forms for FMS. So there im not that 'vella'.

Happy Diwali

hello people happy diwali!!! was working on diwali night. wouldnt complain coz i hate the crackers during this season. so what i did was, get decked up in a mekhla chadar and have fun at work.
i also watched 'Don' on sunday, Shahrukh Khan was so 'drool' worthy! not a bad movie, i liked it!
i bought my much coveted laptop yesterday, yes that was the 23rd of October, 2006. its fun how one goes out with something specific to buy and ends up buying soemthing altogether different! i have been doing r&d on laptops since july with a budget of 30000, deceiding from Compaq V3029 to V3033 to finally V6102. and people its a great buy! bought it for 50000. not a bad price for the configuration(with my limited knowledge of computers):
AMD Turion dual processor, 1GB ram, 100GB hard disk, DVD writer with 15.4" screen
all kicked about exploring the laptop! thats all for today. ciao
